Nature play

Nature immersions to amuse, engage and educate your children.

Are you ready to play?

Amuse, engage and educate your little ones in nature, while exploring some of Sydney's most hidden gems.

We are living amidst a global pandemic of disconnection and our children are suffering. With far too many hours spent engaging with screens instead of their environments, it’s no wonder so many children are obese, depressed, anxious and withdrawn.

We believe there is an easy solution - to bring our children back outside, to remind them of the playground in their backyards, to re-introduce them to the magic of the forest.

Growing bodies of research indicate that direct exposure to nature is essential for healthy childhood development and for the physical and emotional health of both children and adults. The lack of nature in the lives of today’s youth has been called Nature-Deficit Disorder and is linked to some of the most disturbing childhood trends.

Children haven’t forgotten the power of nature; they merely haven’t had access to it. They have an innate ability to tune into their surroundings, connect and play. Balanced mental health begins here. We are here to help you deepen your children's relationships with nature and themselves. After all, our future is in their hands…

What is nature play?

This immersive program has been created to increase the time children spend in unstructured play outdoors. It is founded in the understanding that outdoor play is fundamental to a full and healthy childhood. Nature play intrinsically benefits overall health, cognitive, social and emotional development and assists in building resilience and creativity.

What are the benefits of nature play?

This researched practice provides evidence that children who play in natural settings, will play in more diverse, imaginative and creative ways. These kids develop greater resistance to stress, show lower incidences of behavioural disorders, anxiety, depression and develop a higher measure of self-worth.

Children create positive relationships with each other and their environment and display improved collaborative skills. Playing in nature helps to strengthen the immune system and encourages physically active children. This leads to increased resistance to illness, energy, mobility and strength. It has been proven that children with access to frequent nature play based environments have a much lesser tendency to engage in bullying behaviour.
